Jack's Mousery

Exhibition mice in standard coat, since 1995.

July 25, 2015:

It has been more than two years since I left the show world and its online back-and-forth. And a curious thing has happened: I realized that I get more joy and tranquility from my animals when I'm not actively involved in the hustle and bustle of traveling, showing, and judging.

From the days of Wanda, Debbie, and others with the LMC until now, I think I've had my fair share of competition, events, and trainings. So I plan to stay uninvolved in most major mouse venues and social circles indefinitely. I am living in Pennsylvania now and still have my little chinchillas as well as a line for type only that I'm working on. My blacks are in the process of being subsumed into the chinchilla line. I adopted out and discontinued the reds (although I still have the red-derived agoutis and cinnamons).

I will have mice available to the public again some time in 2016 at the earliest, through private transaction only (as always).

Peace,
Jack

November 23, 2014:

Thank you everyone for seeing me and the mice through this extended break from the fancy. Graduate school finished up this summer (hallelujah!), and I am preparing to possibly move out of state within the next few months. After that, which looks like some point midway through 2015, I have plans to return to showing and possibly judging, but that depends on where I am living. I am working mostly on my chinchillas (Aw/Aw cch/*) at this point, although I retain my other varieties. After SEVEN YEARS my chinchillas still have unwanted recessives so if you know anyone who has large agouti or agouti-based mice WITHOUT chocolate (b/b) or C-recessives in their background OR chinchilla/silver agouti themselves, send them my way. :)

Peace,
Jack

January 14, 2014:

I've received numerous emails asking if I've quit breeding mice. No, I haven't. I have all the same mice. I'm just not selling or showing them for the foreseeable future, until my life settles down a bit. I'm maintaining this website only sporadically, so I cannot respond to mouse-related messages in a timely manner. I've now disabled my "Contact Me" page so as to prevent unanswered questions.

Peace,
Jack

May 8, 2013:

I've decided to step away indefinitely from the mouse world in official contexts. I still keep and breed mice (red/cinnamon, black, and chinchilla), but I'm not going to be involved as a judge, moderator, administrator, educator, or organizer for the foreseeable future. Graduate school plus working full-time leaves no time for anything else. I give my full blessings to the ECMA, the Mouse Lovers forum, and all the other places I've participated over the past few years, and wish everyone well.

To everyone who has talked to me about getting mice in the past few months, I'm going to honor those arrangements. But for my sanity I'm not going to be making new ones until grad school is over and I am fully settled in one place. This will be no sooner than the end of 2014. Be well, everybody!

Peace,
Jack
